Last week a New Jersey mom was driving in the car with her 2 and 4-year-old daughters when they started acting up in the backseat. She did what many parents this time of year do – threaten them with a phone call to Santa to make sure he knows they are naughty list worthy.

When her girls refused to stop fighting she pulled out her phone and “dialed” Santa and had a pretend conversation with him. Just as she was ending the call she passed a police officer who ended up pulling her over for talking on her cell phone while driving. She tried explaining the situation to him, but she tells the Trentonian “he just looked at me like I was crazy.”

She eventually convinced the officer that no call was actually made by asking him to check her call log, which is when a second police officer pulled up and noticed her vehicle was past due for inspection…

“I got a ticket for $145,” she said. “I’m guessing I’m the first person to ever get a ticket for talking to Santa Claus.”
