Balance, Flexibility, Discipline, Respect. These are just a few of the life lessons my son and I are learning as we participate in U. S. Tae Kwon Do.
We have been members of the Briargate class for over a year. What brought us to Tae Kwon Do was our son. We brought him home from Korea when he was 13 months old. At that time, my husband and I both felt that introducing aspects of his culture would be important to him. Last year when he was 3, we brought him to the studio in order to determine if he would be ready to begin training. The staff requested that one parent participate with him since he was so young. I had always wanted to participate in martial arts, so we took advantage of a family coupon and both signed up. We soon realized that we both really enjoyed Tae Kwon do. We were invited to join the Black Belt Club and have continued to progress in our skills.
I work full-time as a nurse and have one little boy. I’m in my 40’s, and so I realize that maintaining a healthy lifestyle gets more difficult. Tae Kwon Do has helped me achieve a higher level of physical fitness. Adding 3 – 4 classes of Tae Kwon Do per week to my workout routine has kept my weight down and added a level of strength and flexibility that I never thought possible to achieve.
