The children in this video ended up being fine and no one was hurt, but what this mom did may leave you scratching your head. While she was driving, she somehow managed to hold her cell phone up to film her children singing in the backseat. You can hear her laughing at their antics, and it makes you wonder how she can possibly be paying enough attention to the road! She’s clearly not, and the video proves that.
She is not the only one that makes this careless choice, however. The National Safety Council’s 2014 annual injury and fatality report, “Injury Facts,” reports that the use of cellphones while driving attributes to 26% of the nation’s car accidents, a slight increase from the previous year. That means 1 out of 4 accidents are caused from cell phone use while driving.
In 2013, the nation’s four largest cellphone companies launched their first joint advertising campaign against texting while driving. Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile united behind AT&T’s “It Can Wait” advertising campaign, which warns customers against the habit of using handheld devices while driving.
The video below is a good reminder for driver’s everywhere that “it can wait”!
