Car crashes kill thousands of people every year. It is even a more tragic event when a child is injured or killed. However, this car accident story is amazing and a rare piece of good news.

A 7-month old baby was in the car with her mother and a 15-year-old girl when they were hit by a car that ran a red light. The baby, still strapped in her car seat, was thrown out of the van about 25 feet. When rescuers found the baby she was face-down. They feared the worst, but when they turned her over she opened her eyes and smiled.

According to WHIO-TV, five people were injured in the crash and two are in serious condition. However, baby Madison has only a bruise on her head and mom had minor injuries. The Montgomery, Ohio Deputies say the driver who caused the crash ran away, but was located soon after.

The mother’s aunt, Alicia Lewis, said she was amazed. “Looking at [Madison] like, wow, she doesn’t even know what’s going on…She was the one in the trauma, and we’re traumatized, but she’s not.” Another family member credits God for taking care of the child, “God does not make mistakes; I tell people that all the time…When things happen, it’s all in His will.”
