An Australian celebrity chef has come under fire for his paleo inspired cookbook intended for babies and children.  Pete Evans’ book, Bubba Yum Yum: The Paleo Way, has been held back by the publisher after various health officials and medical experts expressed concerns.

“In my view, there’s a very real possibility that a baby may die if this book goes ahead,” Professor Heather Yeatman, president of the Public Health Association of Australia, has told Women’s Weekly online. The main concern is the DIY baby formula which is made from liver and bone broth.

There is also the issue of promises from the book’s authors. They claim that the diet may help prevent autism, birth defects, and various behavioral disorders. However, these claims have not been proven. The author, Evans, has no formal training except for an online degree from a private clinic.

What do you think about banning books like this? Do you think parents would eliminate formula or breastmilk from a child’s diet because of a celebrity-endorsed cookbook?
