Two years ago the De la Sala family lost their home in a fire. Then a builder took their money and never finished the work on the house. That is when 10-year-old, Alyssa De Le Sala, decided to step in and help her parents by opening a lemonade stand.
The family, that lives near Tampa, Florida, said they always knew they had a good community, but this was overwhelming. Alyssa’s mom, Jenn, said, “She took it upon herself to do something to help mommy and daddy, I don’t think she expected it to be anything like this either.”
Alyssa and Damien, her brother, called a local radio station to advertise the lemonade stand. They offered two kinds of lemonade and baked goods. A local TV and radio stationed advertised and people showed up. One person gave $500 and another gave $1,000. Local businesses donated home goods.
“They really shined on this one. We are proud that we are able to bridge that gap and to help the family with some of the stuff they had in need,” said Deputy Mark Momtano
So far she has raised $15,000 for her family through the stand and a GoFundMe page.
