Now that it’s officially fall, we can celebrate the season change shamelessly. Or, at least I do. I love fall. I love everything about it, but one of my favorite things is the leaves changing. I know I’m in good company– most of my friends love fall as well. One way that my family likes to celebrate September is to go for drives to view the yellow aspens.

This past weekend we loaded up the kids and headed west to see the aspens in all their glory. The leaves were magnificent, but they were only about half turned. I think that this weekend coming up is going to be amazing aspen viewing as well. We took hwy 24 up to hwy 67, past Mueller State Park (which I hear has amazing golden color too!). We continued on 67 around to Victor, and then took CO RD 81 to 64 to get us back to 67. The entire drive took us about three hours, but then we stopped at a playground in Divide so I could feed the baby. It was a great morning!

The Colorado website has a great guide to prime fall driving routes. This route is listed along with many others in all areas of the state. No matter where you find yourself this weekend, get out a bit and love that yellow!
