Now that summer break is nearing it’s end, we trying to enjoy every second of our time outside before school starts. We’ve spent all summer going to fun places, doing interesting activities, creative crafts but it’s always great to surprise my kids with exciting new ideas. Sometimes it’s the most simple things that kids love the most.

Here are a couple simple and super fun activities which your kids can help prepare and then, of course, enjoy as well.

Gak
Gak is a gooey mixture that has a slime type feel. While this could be an indoor toy for some people, I don’t allow Gak in my house. I don’t want to attempt picking off of my rugs or chairs.

What you need:
Liquid Starch
Elmer’s Glue
Food Coloring
Ziplock bag

Put 1/4 cup of liquid starch in a baggie and add 3 drops of food coloring. Then add a 1/4 cup of Elmer’s glue. Close the bag and mix until a solid blob forms. Take it out of the bag and continue to mix and work until it resembles slime.

Chalk Paint
My husband doesn’t like sidewalk chalk or normal sidewalk paint because it takes a while for it to wash away. This is a great way to allow the kids to decorate the driveway and sidewalk while still being able to easily wash it away and start over fresh the next day!

What you need:
Cornstarch
Food coloring
Water
Muffin pan
Paint brushes

Place 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch in each of the muffin cups and then add 2 Tablespoons of water in each cup. Add 2-4 drops of food coloring per cup in as many different colors a you would like and mix.
