This is a super yummy recipe for the best black eyed peas. They are sure to bring you good luck the whole year through, most likely.
Ingredients:
Dry black eyed peas (1 lb bag)
1 can 14 1/2 oz stewed tomatoes
onion
water
salt
pepper
garlic powder
vegetable oil
ham or ham hock.
Directions:
Soak your peas overnight and remove any gnarly ones.
Put your peas in your crock pot. I use a large crock pot for an entire bag of peas.
Add about 4-5 cups of water to the peas.
Add the tomatoes to the pot. You can use a food processor to blend them a bit, but you don’t have to do this.
Add your ham or ham hock.
Cook for about 5-7 hours on low. The peas should be tender.
