A teenager recently wrote into Social Q’s about the way her mother dresses. Basically, she is 14, her mom wears short skirts, cropped tops and trendy t-shirts. This girl doesn’t like the way her mom dresses and finds it embarassing. She asked how she should handle this situation.
The response was for this girl to share her thoughts with her mom by telling her how it makes her feel to have a mom who wears mini-skirts. The advisor also tole her that hopefully, it was just a phase and her mom will, hopefully, start dressing her age soon.
We’ve talked about this before on this site and there are valid reasons why moms dress like their teenage daughters. Most moms said they dress according to how it makes them feel and look. If they feel good in clothes similar to their teenage daughter’s that is what they wear. Of course, there is the other side that says moms, especially older moms, should dress more their age.
I say moms can dress any way they want, within reason. This goes both ways, some people think moms shouldn’t wear PJ pants to pick their kids up from school. Others think moms shouldn’t wear clothes that are too revealing. There seems to be an ongoing debate on how moms should dress.
