More students are using technology at school. My son’s school has a COW (Computers On Wheels). It is a rolling laptop holder and the kids use the laptops for different parts of their learning. Other schools are using iPads for students as young as kindergarten. iPads are replacing books and offering better and quicker access to information. Many educators believe iPads are going to be a big part of the future for education.
Learning isn’t the only thing iPads are useful for and definitely not the reason kids are asking for their own iPad. Last year about 30% of kids asked for an iPad for Christmas. PCWorld named the iPad the 2010 Children’s Toy of the Year. My boys fell in love with the iPad when they learned how to use a music production app. Suddenly their iPods weren’t big enough for their Angry Birds games or watching You Tube. There are so many learning tools and games for the iPad, it is hard to deny its usefulness.
