Having children almost always influences a woman’s career decisions. A recent study found that women are 10 times more likely than men to stay home with sick kids. That definitely has an impact on a job, especially if you have more than one kid.

A recent Kaiser survey of women and men about their health care showed that women are taking the lead when it comes to family health.

1. Moms stay home with sick kids most of the time.

2. Women make most of the decisions concerning their children’s health care.

About 75% of women said they are the ones who choose their children’s doctors and take them to appointments.

3. Low-income working mothers and those with part time jobs take on more childcare responsibilities and don’t have as many benefits.

Only about 40% of working mothers are paid when they take time off to care for a sick child. That leaves about 60% not being paid while taking time off.

What do you do when your child is sick and you must go to work? Do you have anyone you can call to watch your sick child while you work?
