Last week Aislynn Major was shopping at Burlington Coat Factory when her 18 month daughter needed to be breastfed. She stopped by the changing room to nurse. She did not cover up but was facing the wall for some privacy when an employee approached her and requested that she go in to a changing room or the bathroom. When Major declined, the employee continued to tell her that it made her feel uncomfortable.

Major told 9News in Denver, “It was really embarrassing to be pointed out and to be told I was offending somebody over something that really is such a natural thing,”

Under Colorado Law mothers are allowed to breastfeed in public.

Regional Vice President of Burlington Coat Factory, Mark Fleer has acknowleged the incident and Colorado Law and has stated this is an opportunity to better train their staff.

Mothers quiety banded together at the store for a “nurse-in” on Monday to protest for breastfeeding rights.

One mother’s opinion was that while it should be ok to breastfeed in public, covering up should just be a common courtesy.

What are your thoughts? Most of us are for breastfeeding in public, but do you feel mother’s should cover up as well?
