A Charlotte, NC mother is outraged at the wording on a genetics assignment that was given to her daughter. She says it has racial undertones.

She tells WBTV news it was worded as follows:

“LaShamanda has a heterozygous big bootie, the dominant trait. Her man Fontavius has a small bootie which is recessive. They get married and have a baby named LaPrincess.”

The assignment then asks, “What is the probability that LaPrincess will inherit her mama’s big bootie?”

The mother reached out to the teacher demanding an explanation. According to WBTV news the teacher apologized that it offended her, but that “the worksheet had been passed down to her by other teachers who have been using it.” It was also stated that it was part of the “Summer School Biology Notebook Packet” that teachers were given by the school district.

When WBTV reached out to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to ask about the assignment an official stated that it did not appear to be created by them and they have since asked that it be removed from the curriculum.

What are your thoughts? Did the assignment go too far?
