The U.S. isn’t the best place for a child to fall ill, in fact, we’re not even in the top 10 countries worldwide.
According to a ranking done by the nonprofit organization Save the Children, the U.S. comes in at number 15 out of 161 counties. The rankings were based on how many health-care workers are available to take care of the child.
The index bases how many health-care workers were available per 10,000 people in the country. The U.S. has approximately 125 workers per 10,000 people; the optimal number according to the World Health Organization is 23 health-care workers per 10,000 people.
