Finding daycare for your child is a hard process and leaving them, even in the best hands, isn’t always easy.
For parents of children at a Beaverton, Oregon, daycare, their search may have just started over.
Beaverton Police were called to a home daycare facility by neighbors who reported a young child locked outside of the home crying for over an hour.
When police arrived, they did see the child outside the facility. The 15-month-old child was allegedly placed outside the back door of the daycare for a “time out.”
The owner of the daycare, Suzanne Pounds, 58, was watching the 15 month old and three other children at the time of the alleged incident.
Police waited for the parents of the other children in her care to be picked up before taking Pounds in for questioning and booking.
A mother of one of the children in Pounds’ care at the time of the alleged incident has a different story of the events and says that the child was not locked outside, but that the door was open a few inches.
Suzanne Pounds is facing endangering the welfare or a minor charges. She is also facing providing a premise for use of a controlled substance charges, as police also found Pounds’ daughter, Christine, and Christine’s boyfriend, David Vigil, in possession of heroin. Christine Pounds was also booked for an outstanding warrant.
The daycare facility has had complaints in the past, including one for adults moving in or visiting on a regular basis not having a background check.
