A woman from Longmont, Colorado was visiting Arkansas this past Wednesday and made the discovery of a lifetime!
Bobbie Oskarson was searching at Arkansas’s Crater of Diamonds State Park Wednesday when she dug up what she thought was just a quartz crystal.
Park officials confirmed it was indeed a raw white diamond weighing in at 8.52 carats, making it the 5th largest diamond found in the park since it was established as a diamond site in 1972.
Oskarson plans on keeping her treasure, and named it the Esperanza Diamond, after her niece. It means “hope” in Spanish.
