Fire Station Tour

Who doesn’t love a Fire Station Tour?!? Have you ever wondered about setting up your own? Its pretty simple to set up and a whole lot of fun to go. I highly suggest bringing goodies or thank you cards when you go as well. Firefighters are definitely under appreciated the majority of the time and any opportunity to show them you really do care is great.

If you want to go on a tour of a fire station, you need to call the central office. They take care of all fire station tours. You can find the phone number, hours of tours, as well as a map of the ). Obviously there is no guarantee that they can do your tour. If there is a call, they have to leave. If they aren’t there when you get there you can always wait around or try again another time. We have been really fortunate and haven’t had any problems the 4 times I’ve been. However, I remember as a child going to one and having them leave. I figure its worth the risk though. If all else fails, I’m leaving cards and cookies by the door or something. On one tour, I was able to be the guinea pig for putting on all the firefighter gear (so heavy!). In another station, we were able to climb all over the trucks and see more of the equipment. Each experience will be slightly different but always memorable for the kids. They used to be able to give out little trading cards and stickers to the kids when they came but they no longer have the funds for that kind of thing so take lots of pictures instead and show support for our firefighters!

My favorite part: Lets be honest, I go for my kids. I do gain new appreciation for our firefighters every time we go though and that’s probably the best part for me.

My kids’ favorite part: Climbing in the trucks and trying on the helmets!

My husband’s favorite part: Learning what all the different trucks and engines are and their purpose.

We love our firefighters!
