Remember drinking out of the hose? How about the extremely tall, metal slide on the playground? Maybe you even walked down the street to a friend’s house when you were only 8 or 9-years-old.
Adults used to not worry about kids to the point of craziness. Yes, there are adults out there, today, worrying about kids to the point that they are crazy. Here are a few products that prove you can go too far as a helicopter parent.
Stop, now, kids are going to bump their heads. Sure, we understand some kids need helmets for medical reasons. However, your normal kid does NOT need a helmet while they are learning to walk. A few bumps and bruises are part of the process. They’ll live and learn, you did, right?
These kids are adorable and because they have sandwich bags on their hands they are germ free and not sticky. These are not necessary. Seriously, if you want your kids to not get sticky from a lollipop, DON’T GIVE THEM THE LOLLIPOP! If you don’t want them getting germs, make sure they wash their hands. If you think this is an amazing idea and your kids just need plastic bags on their hands to keep them clean and germ free, save yourself a few dollars and buy a bag of sandwich bags. If you really want to cover up those kids, ask for some face masks next time you are at your doctor’s office.

By the time your baby is about a week or two weeks old, you’ll start figuring out why they are crying. Then, just when you figure it out, they switch things up and cry for different reasons. Normally, we moms are able to roll with it and we learn how to keep our baby generally happy and healthy. However, these folks think they can know why our baby is crying with this simple machine. They say it helps parents read and respond to a baby’s feelings and emotions. It can also tell you when to feed your baby. Really?!? If you don’t know when to feed your baby, you’ll need more than a baby monitor with five colored lights. And guess what, if you don’t know why your baby is crying, join the club, we’ve all been there. Some times a baby just has to cry. Save some money and relax, if they are fed, clean, and healthy, they are probably just hearing about the Broncos losing a playoff game.
In all seriousness, there are a ton of products out there that could enable you to worry more. Be kind to yourself and don’t go for every crazy idea because you’re worried about your kid’s safety. Trust yourself!
