Three children, ages 9, 10, and 15 are in juvenile detention until they are 18-years-old or when they attempt to have a relationship with their dad. The Michigan children never committed a crime and yet they are incarcerated.
The family was in court regarding supervised visitation. When the oldest child spoke out that he had seen his father hit his mother and the father was violent and that was why the kids didn’t want to see him. Oakland County Circuit Judge, Lisa Gorycyca told the children that they were defiant and had no manners. She said to the oldest child:
“You’re very defiant. You have no manners. … There is no reason why you do not have a relationship with your father. Your father has never been charged with anything. Your father’s never been convicted of anything. Your father doesn’t have a personal protection order against him. Your father is well-liked and loved by the community, his co-workers, his family (and) his colleagues. You, young man, have got it wrong. I think your father is a great man who has gone through hoops for you to have a relationship with you.”
The judge put all three of the children into Oakland County Children’s Village, a juvenile detention center. She said she believes the mother had brainwashed the kids and compared them to “Charlie Manson’s cult.” The kids will be held until at least September 8 when there is a review hearing. The father is currently out of the country on business.
