The leaves are about to start changing, some already have. We have a great afternoon project for you and your kids. First, head out on a walk in the woods with the kids. Bring along a bag to gather your favorite leaves. Next, come home and make this leaf book. You can add pages to it throughout the fall season.
What you’ll need:
Clear contact paper
Scissors
Construction paper
Stapler
Yarn
3 Ring Binder (optional)
3 Hole Punch
You can use the 3 Ring Binder to continue adding pages throughout the fall season.
Cut 2 pieces of contact paper that are the same size. If you want to use a three ring binder, cut the contact paper to fit the size of an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.
Peel the back off of one piece of contact paper.
Arrange your leaves on the contact paper and secure them on the contact paper.
Peel the back off the second piece of contact paper and carefully lay it on top of the first piece. This works best if you start on one side and “roll” the second piece over the first to avoid bubbles. Press the two pieces together well.
Use the construction paper to write about where you found your leaves. You can even do a search online to find the names of the trees the leaves came from.
If you don’t use a binder, you can use the construction paper as the front and back of your book. You can staple the pages together or punch three holes in the pages and tie them together with yarn.
You can use leaves to decorate the front of the book with leaves and each kid’s names.
Another idea – Instead of a book, you can use the contact paper and make placemats for each child.
