My name is Jennifer Hinderberger. My family has been training at the U.S. Taekwondo Center, Briargate location, for approximately 2 years. While both of our daughters initially started training, my husband and I were soon to follow. Within about 6 months into our training, I sustained an ankle injury requiring surgery. My recovery period was around 6 months, forcing me to miss 3 testing cycles. I slowly eased back into training with my family. Presently, I have one more testing to reach and I will have caught up with my family, whom has been patiently waiting for me! Although I continue to wear an ankle brace, I have quickly built my confidence to train as I once did before.
We love the camaraderie this has brought to our family, not to mention the wonderful exercise we are achieving together. Currently, I work as a Special Education teacher in the local community, working towards a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Taekwondo has provided an outlet for me, allowing a much needed stress reliever. We have enjoyed learning self-defense strategies as a family and we strive to accomplish black belt in the future.
