Army Captains Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr had planned for their wedding in Oahu, Hawaii on a Marine Corps base golf course, until they were forced to move Sunday after the president decided to play the course at the last minute.
The 16th tee box of the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course has beautiful ocean views, and the couple looked forward to exchanging their vows in such a pictureque place.
According to Jamie McCarthy, the grooms sister, “It was emotional, especially for [Heimel]-she’s the bride and in less than 24 hours they had to change everything they had planned.”
However, it seems that President Obama had no idea they were moving a wedding, and called to apologize after their new ceremony had taken place.
Family says despite the mishap, the wedding was beautiful.
Obama has been vacationing in Hawaii with his family and has played 6 rounds of golf in the last 9 days.
