Warning: this is hard for any mom to watch, but it’s a reminder of the possible dangers of leaving your child in the care of another.
One California mom is learning a hard lesson – be extra careful about who you hire to care for your children. The mother (who wishes to remain anonymous) hired a woman named Dana Cash from Care.com, which is a website that screens caregivers and hires them out to the public. She had no previous record.
After her 8 year old son mentioned that the Nanny was being mean to them and shaking her 1 year old twins, the mother used her Nanny Cam to record footage. She was shocked and horrified at what she found. The Nanny was indeed physically abusing the twins, including shaking them, dragging them around the room by their feet, and putting her hands over their mouths.
When confronted, Cash just shook her head and said “I made a mistake.” Cash was fired and later arrested on child abuse charges.
The mom is hoping that by sharing this story it will encourage parents to be extra cautious when hiring care for their children, and to install Nanny Cams in the home if you don’t already have them.
Do stories like this make you concerned about your children’s caregivers? How do you make sure they are safe?
