Do you remember dying of dysentery as a child? Maybe you drowned during a river crossing. You probably played the Oregon Trail as a young student during computer lab at school. Now you can play it again, in its original form.

A non-profit library has put over two thousand classic MS-DOS games online for free. You can play Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Tetris, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? and many more. The games went up on Internet Archive, which also has millions of free books, games, recordings, movies and much more.

There are glitches and it may look different, but software curator, Jason Scott writes that the experience is pretty close to what people remember. “Some of them [the games] will still fall over and die, and many of them might be weird to play in a browser window, and of course you can’t really save things off for later, and that will limit things too…But on the whole, you will experience some analogue of the MS-DOS program, in your browser, instantly.”
