Prom is upon us and you’ve probably seen many unique and interesting pictures. However, one Colorado prom picture is causing outrage. One of the mothers is even speaking out against the photo.
A group of students posed with guns and the Confederate flag. The Chaparral High School students were not supported by fellow students. “Clearly, that’s not OK at all,” one student not involved with the act told KDVR. “I don’t know why they would pose with that flag.”
The photo stirs up mixed feelings for many people. An anonymous mother noted that it isn’t the South, where you would expect this to happen, but Colorado. Kids don’t always make the best decisions, but in this case parents were encouraging the kids.
“I think in their immaturity they kind of think it is a cowboy thing, but to have parents feed into it and support it is really upsetting to me.”
