We’ve all been there… you go to clean up a spill only to find the paper towels are all gone.  You throw in a load of laundry and the soap is all gone.  You’re in the shower and notice your daughter used the last of the shampoo. Chances are when you’re busy raising a family, you sometimes forget what you’re running low on, and when you do realize you don’t always have time to make it to the grocery store!

Well, Amazon.com must have read our mommy minds, because they have a handy dandy way of making sure you never run out of common household items again, and it’s called the Dash Button. Only available to Amazon Prime members, these small buttons can be attached anywhere in your home where you store your household goods.  For example, stick them in the closet next to your trash bags, or under the sink by your dish soap, and next to the toilet for toilet paper.  Buttons are available in your favorite brands like Tide, Gillette, Bounce, Kraft and Cottonelle and many more.

The idea of the Dash button is that when you notice you’re running low on a certain product, you simply press the Dash button and Amazon will immediately ship out that product to you. Prime members can usually expect to see that shipment on their doorstep the next day.  Each button costs $5, and there are obviously limitations on what brands and products are available.

According to the Amazon.com website, this is how it works:

“Amazon Dash Button is a Wi-Fi connected device that reorders your favorite item with the press of a button. To use Dash Button, simply download the Amazon App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Then, sign into your Amazon Prime account, connect Dash Button to Wi-Fi, and select the product you want to reorder. Once connected, a single press on Dash Button automatically places your order. Amazon will send an order confirmation to your phone, so it’s easy to cancel if you change your mind. Also, the Dash Button Order Protection doesn’t allow a new order to be placed until the prior order ships, unless you allow multiple orders.”

Overall, it’s a pretty great idea and can definitely limit those last minute trips to the store! Check out the video below to see them in action:
