“Revenge Porn” and nude picture leaks are more rampant than ever. People all around the world, especially young women, are at risk for having their nude texts posted on the internet. These attacks on privacy can hurt people for years just because of one bad decision. However, there is a new app coming that could help protect the privacy of sexters.
Australian dads, Shane Bell and Derek Hayes, said they were talking about their own kids growing up in a risky environment combined with the prevalence of sexting. They came up with the idea for HotShots. It is an app that allows people to send images, but they can only be viewed once and cannot be saved. They can only be seen if the person receiving the picture answers a question about the sender. It is currently available on Android and should hit Apple next month.
Experts say the only way to truly know that your nude or racy photos won’t hit the web is not to take them. Some question why fathers of teens would come up with an app like this. “It’s always something that has happened and always will happen, and if we can make it safe for people, then that’s more power to them.”
