Sleep Vacations for Parents

As a new parent, I thought I’d never sleep again. As the parent of two boys, I’m pretty sure I haven’t slept in more than a handful of times in the last few years and those were when my boys were with the grandparents. When I read about sleep vacations, my first questions was “where do I sign up?”

The ‘Week of Sleep for Exhausted Parents’ is a seven-night vacation at a hotel in Greece. The Almyra is a five star hotel claims to “restore balance to frazzled parents by providing the right conditions for healthy sleep.” They provide a meal plan full of tryptophan – an amino acid found in turkey, seafood and bananas that is thought to promote sleep. Massages and rose petal baths set the mood for a sleep filled night. They teach about healthy habits that will help people sleep better at home. Yoga and meditation help calm a busy mind.

The fact that the hotel is by the ocean and doesn’t allow children under 16-years-old could help guests sleep a little better, also. It will set you back about $1,500 for seven days. Click here to read about one mom’s stay at this hotel and see if it really helped her.
