Kylie Jenner, sister of Kim Kardashian has recently been scrutinized for her suddenly larger lips, which she denies has anything to do with injections or surgery. She’s been flaunting her new look and gaining the attention of young girls in the process. Most teens aren’t taking it too seriously, but some are still participating in the dangerous trend.
It sounds innocent enough. Take a shot glass or prescription bottle place it over your mouth and suck the air tight. The vacuum causes blood to engorge your lips, and voila! Instant plump and pouty lips! Oh, and with the risk of bruising, tearing and bleeding, and in some cases…stitches. Think hicky on your lips!
Kylie herself has spoken out against this potentially harmful practice, tweeting, “I’m not here to try & encourage people/young girls to look like me or to think this is the way they should look … I want to encourage people/young girls like me to be YOURSELF & not be afraid to experiment with your look.”
The moral of the story? Just don’t do it, and talk to your daughters about the potential consequences of these social media “games”.
