Take a look at most dolls on the store shelves these days, and they are over-made with dark make-up and highly sexualized. Little girls can hardly relate to the way these dolls look. The girls who play with them don’t wear make-up, haven’t developed breasts yet, and because of their age, likely don’t dress the way these dolls do either. As parents, we can choose what dolls they play with, but the selection is fairly limited when you are bombarded with Barbies and Bratz dolls.
Tree Change Dolls is changing that, one doll at a time. A Tasmanian mom, who has always been fascinated with dolls began buying used dolls from flea markets and second hand shops and giving them “make-overs” by stripping them of their make-up and painting on new faces. The results are beautiful and charming!
The awesome video below shows the process from start to finish, and the reaction these dolls get from young girls when they’re completed.
