Just in time for Mother’s Day, Ashton Kutcher wanted to give back to his mom Dianne in a big way, so he recently teamed up with Houzz.com to remodel her entire basement.
He helped his stepfather build their small Iowa home when he was a teenager, and although Ashton has moved on to a successful acting career, he still considers it “home”.
The basement also known as the “man cave”, is where Ashton’s step dad kept all his Chicago Bears and John Wayne memorabilia. Complete with recliners, it was definitely a man space. They overhauled the area and transformed it in to an open kitchen, seating area, and added a new bedroom for the grand kids.
The entire process from planning to the reveal was filmed and edited in to a four-part video series, and it’s moving to watch. Dianne does not disappoint with her emotional reaction during the reveal.
“At the end of the day, it’s my way of saying thank you to my mom,” Kutcher says in the video. “Anything that I can do to say thank you is the right thing to do.”
