Officials are reporting that five people have become ill, and three have died because of food borne illness linked to listeria bacteria found in Blue Bell Ice Cream products.
The Texas based creamery hasn’t had a recall in it’s 108-year history, until now.
The FDA reports that listeria bacteria was found in samples of Blue Bell Chocolate Chip Country Cookies, Great Divide Bars, Sour Pop Green Apple Bars, Cotton Candy Bars, Scoops, Vanilla Stick Slices, Almond Bars and No Sugar Added Moo Bars.
Blue Bell says its regular Moo Bars were unaffected, as were its half gallons, quarts, pints, cups, three-gallon ice cream and take-home frozen snack novelties. If you have purchased any of the following items the FDA encourages you to discard them:
- Chocolate Chip Country Cookie
- Great Divide Bar
- Sour Pop Green Apple Bar
- Cotton Candy Bar
- Scoops
- Vanilla Stick Slices
- Almond Bar
- No Sugar Added Mooo Bar (regular Mooo Bars are not included)
If you have eaten any of these products and exhibit the following symptoms please contact a health care provider. Symptoms can show up as early as 3 days and as late as 70 days after consuming food with listeria.

- stiff neck
- confusion
- loss of balance
- convulsions
