A 31-year-old Texas mom started having headaches.  They grew worse and she finally decided to see a doctor after she began losing her sight.

Yadira Rostro was treated at Methodist Dallas Medical Center where it was discovered she had larvae sacs from eight tapeworm eggs growing in her brain.

“They looked a little bit like eggs, and they have a clear sac,” neurosurgeon Richard Meyrat explained. “And inside it, a small tapeworm.”

It is believed that she ate food that was contaminated with fecal matter.  Most of the time the parasite goes through the body, but sometimes they go into the bloodstream and ultimately to the brain.  It is being called “bad luck” for Rostra and Dr. Meyrat said it is not common at all.

After 9 months of pain she is making a full recovery and feeling better.  She said,  “I’m very grateful to God that I’m in his hands.”
