Fall is in the air and what’s more comforting than pork chops and apple sauce on a crisp fall day? This quick and easy twist on the American classic is just perfect to get in the fall mood — and kids love it, too!
Ingredients:
4 pork chops
1 can of apple pie filling, 1 jar of CHUNKY applesauce, or 16 oz of chunky homemade applesauce
1 box of Stove Top stuffing — try the low sodium version
salt & pepper, to taste
water, chicken brother or apple juice
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Season pork chops with salt and pepper and brown in a sauté pan. While chops are browning, make stuffing according to directions on package.
Layer apple pie filling (or applesauce) on bottom of a baking dish that is large enough for the chops to lay flat without overlapping. Add enough water (juice or broth) to the pan to make sure that all of the apples are covered with liquid.
Add browned chops on top of apples, and add stuffing on top of chops.
Cover pan and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil/lid and cook for an additional 15 minutes or until edges of stuffing begin to crisp, if desired.
Enjoy!
