5-Year-Old Billed For Not Showing Up to a Birthday Party

Like we don’t receive enough bills as parents, 5-year-old Alex Nash came home from school recently with an invoice because he didn’t show up to a birthday party.

According to the Plymouth Herald Alex was invited to a ski and snowboarding facility for his friend’s birthday. Alex’s father saw the birthday boy’s mom at school and confirmed with her that Alex would like to attend.

Unfortunately when plans changed at the last minute, they didn’t have her contact info to let her know he wouldn’t be there. When he didn’t show, the friend’s mom created an invoice billing the Nash family $24 for a party “no show”.

Alex’s parents initially thought the bill was a joke, but when they confronted her she threatened to take them to small claims court if they didn’t pay. No word on if they have worked it out yet.

Wow! What are your thoughts? Lots of my children’s friends haven’t RSVP’d to parties before – do you think this mom went too far?
