We all want our kids to know they are loved and special. They usually roll their eyes when we say it and tell us we only say it because we’re their moms. Now, Angelina Jolie is telling them and maybe they’ll take it to heart.

At the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, Saturday night, Jolie won the award for Favorite Villain as Maleficent.  Her acceptance speech was simple and exactly what kids everywhere need to hear.

“Thank you so much to all the kids who voted. I want to say when I was little, like Maleficent, I was told I was different. And I felt out of place and too loud, too full of fire, never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in,” she said in her speech. “And then one day I realized something — something I hope you all realize. Different is good. When someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up and be proud.”
