Ford has created MYKEY It is a keyfob that parents can be program to limit the vehicle’s top speed. Another feature, it mutes the radio until the driver buckles-up and sets a volume limit for the audio system.

Other features offered are:

  • Limited top speed of 80 mph
  • Traction control system, that limits tire spin, cannot be deactivated
  • Limited audio volume to 44 percent of total volume

Despite all the technology available for parents to monitor their kids, nothing compares to driver education and talking with your teens. Many insurances offer discounts for driver education. Teens who see the danger in texting and driving or speeding, are more likely to be responsible.
