When a Florida teen was attacked by an alligator he was able to survive by pulling his arm off. Kaleb Langdale said that he learned about alligator attacks from the show “Swamp People.” He knew the alligator would do at least two death rolls and wouldn’t let go of him. Kaleb and his friends were swimming in the Caloosahatchee River when the gator bit his arm.
“I still couldn’t break free because I was still attached to the tendon,” he said. “Then the gator did another death roll and I kicked my way out of it.”
His friends had managed to get to the side of the river and when Kaleb came out of the water they were there to help him and call 911. Kaleb said an ambulance was there in minutes.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the alligator was hunted down and killed on Monday evening. It was 11 feet long and still had Kaleb’s arm inside it’s stomach. The doctors were unable to reattach Kaleb’s arm.
His mother said she is thankful her son is still alive. “He could have lost his life,” she said. “Half an arm is nothing.” Kaleb said he wants to get the alligator’s head from the trapper who killed the animal. He wants to use it as an armrest.
