Naked Picture on Facebook Cost a High School Coach/Teacher His Job

We all know that our children’s teachers have lives outside of school, however there may be some aspects which should be kept private.

A high school football coach, math, and science teacher in Maine accidentally posted a naked picture of himself on Facebook. Withee claimed that his intent was to send it privately to a friend but inadvertently posted it on his wall for less than half an hour. A parent came across the photo and contacted the school officials. Withee resigned within a week out of embarrassment.

As none of the students are in Withee’s social network, thus did not see the picture, parents are questioning whether or not the coach should have resigned.

How concerned are you about the extracurricular activities of the people who teach your children? If it doesn’t effect their teaching or the kids, should their private lives be any of our concern?
